چکیده

The evolution of particles, during the fabrication step particle-containing glass fibres, was investigated. aim this study to characterize quantitatively composition, size and shape distribution Mg-silicate particles within initial silica-based preform final fibre, these information being crucial better understand mechanisms involved drawing step. A combined experimental approach using Scanning electron microscopy, Transmission microscopy FIB/SEM tomography implemented. particle composition found stay unchanged On other hand, strong modifications their fibre is observed discussed.

A device to characterize optical fibres

ATLAS is a general purpose experiment approved for the LHC collider at CERN. An important component of the detector is the central hadronic calorimeter; for its construction more than 600,000 Wave Length Shifting (WLS) fibres (corresponding to a total length of 1,120 Km) have been used. We have built and put into operation a dedicated instrument for the measurement of light yield and attenuatio...

Erbium-doped nanoparticles in silica-based optical fibres

Developing of new rare-earth (RE)-doped optical fibres for power amplifiers and lasers requires continuous improvements in the fibre spectroscopic properties (like shape and width of the gain curve, optical quantum efficiency, resistance to spectral hole burning and photodarkening,...). Silica glass as a host material for fibres has proved to be very attractive. However some potential applicati...

Photosensitivity in tin-doped silica optical fibres

Permanent gratings (refractive index modulation ~3x10 ) were written in tin-doped silica -4 optical fibres with low levels of SnO (~0.15 mol %). In Ge-doped silica, ~10 mol% GeO is 2 2 required to produce comparable photorefractivity under similar conditions. Photosensitivity in tin-doped silica optical fibres G. Brambilla, V. Pruneri, L. Approaches to High Aspect Ratio Triangulations

In aerospace computational uid dynamics calculations, high aspect ratio, or stretched, triangulations are often used to adequately resolve the features of a viscous ow around bodies. In this paper, we explore alternatives to the Delaunay triangulation which can be used to generate high aspect ratio triangulations of point sets. The method is based on a variation of the lifting map concept which...
